Palmer has never misplaced family on his priorities list. He got married to his wife, Winnie, in 1954, though none of Winnie's family attended the wedding because they were convinced Winnie was making a mistake. They had two daughters and were married for 45 years until Winnie passed away in 1999. A few years later, ground was broken on The Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies.
Palmer married Kit Gawthrop in 2005. The couple wed in a private ceremony by the sea at Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii.
He has seven grandchildren, including grandson Sam Saunders (pictured), who was a talented golfer at Clemson and has played with Palmer in several Del Webb Father/Son Challenge events.
